Project: The Notre Dame Alumni Association, in partnership with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Ft. Worth, will sponsor a service project with the Assessment Center of Tarrant County. The Assessment Center is a 24 hour, 40-bed facility that provides a safe, nurturing, and temporary home for children (ages 0-17) placed in the care of Children’s Protective Services. CCFW collaborates with CPS to recommend appropriate placements for children. While at the Assessment Center, children receive medical, dental, psychological, educational, recreational, and psychiatric services in a healing environment.
Notre Dame alumni, parents and friends will help to refurbish the Assessment Center which will include inside painting, cleaning, and outside yard work and provide a “makeover” for the children’s common and private space. If we have enough Volunteers will also assist at the distribution and donation center.
More detailed information about the project and how alumni can help is forthcoming.
Transportation: Round trip transportation to the Assessment Center from the Worthington Renaissance Hotel (200 Main St Fort Worth, TX 76102) will be available. More detailed information is forthcoming.
**If you plan to use our transportation to and from the Worthington Renaissance Hotel, please indicate this on the Service Project registration form.
For people driving to the service project, plenty parking is available on the Catholic Charities site.
Also, the children who come to the Assessment Center often come with little belongings. Each child is offered a Welcome Kit which includes toiletries, books, school supplies, a bible, and an age-appropriate toy. Consider donating one or multiple kits as a way of making each child feel special. Kits cost $25. Donate Here >
